The Ströbeck Chess Museum is proud to present the thousand-year history of chess in the village and its special place in the international chess scene. In addition, visitors can look forward to seeing displays of chess pieces from across the world and to trying out different variants of the game. There are also exhibitions on chess and art, special exhibitions on interesting chess-related topics and much, much more.

The Ströbeck Chess Tradition

Why does the little village of Ströbeck have a chess museum? Well, because of the village’s thousand- year chess tradition, of course!

On 14. November 2019 there was a fire in our chess museum. The collection was largely saved. However, due to the soot damage, it has to undergo extensive restoration measures. The duration of the reconstruction of the building is currently not foreseeable. The chess museum is therefore closed to visitors until further notice.
