"Village Portraits "
Catalogue of the photo exhibition of the Chess Museum Ströbeck in the Museum of Halberstadt. 13 photographers from England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic When Wijk aan Zee proclaimed itself Cultural Village of Europe for 1999 the village organized two kinds of events. Ten visits from the villages of the later so called Network "Cultural Villages of Europe" and ten other projects for amateur and professional filmmakers, thinkers, youth, elderly, sculptors, musicians, for village experts, for theatre/opera makers and for photographers. The project for photographers was the competition "Village portraits". the instruction was: "Portray a village according to the people who live there". A portion of the contest photos were from 04.09.-07.11.2010 shown in a special exhibition and held in this book with interesting background information on the images and photographers in German and English. |
