Chess and Art

Chess is, perhaps, the most creative game there is – and, equally, the most rational. There have been a variety of artistic depictions of the game across time and, though we don’t claim to be cultural and historical experts, what we do want is to encapsulate our visitors, inspiring the fantasies and emotions that the game of chess can provoke. Our own thousand- year chess tradition in Ströbeck is living proof of that.

Special Exhibitions

With regularly changing exhibitions on a variety of topics, the history of chess and, of course, the history of chess in Ströbeck in particular, is examined in more detail and new things are discovered constantly.
